It has more than 500,000 residents, and is among the fastest-growing towns in the country, with nearly 40,000 jobs.
It is also a key U.S. border crossing, with hundreds of thousands of tourists arriving every year.
But the town has struggled to find a new way to generate revenue.
It spent $1.3 billion on gas taxes last year, and plans to increase that to $2.00 a gallon by 2022, according to a report by the Lake Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce.
A similar proposal from the U.K. government would have raised the fuel tax by the same amount.
But both countries are in a fiscal crisis, with the U, UK and Canada having hit a debt ceiling, and the U., UK and France all seeking to restructure their debts.
Canada and the United States both have large deficits, with both countries running a deficit of $5.9 trillion for the current year.
That’s $3,000 a year more than what the Canadian gas tax would have cost in 2022.
But it’s still less than the $6,000 that would have been required if the U S. and UK had raised the gas tax to $3.00.
The Lake Winnipeg proposal is one of several that have been proposed to help Lake Winnipeg, and has received strong support from the town’s mayor.
But even with the boost, the city is still far from seeing an increase in the amount of money it is spending on gas, according the Chamber.
The gas tax is set at 1.5 cents per gallon, or 0.5 percent of the city’s overall sales tax.
So if the town was to increase the gas-penalty by $1, the tax would only be 0.4 percent of that amount.
“We’re not looking at a 1.4 to 1.6 percent increase,” Mayor Peter Cram said in an interview.
“There’s no reason we should have to go up in the tax.
There’s only a 1 percent increase to that amount.”
The Lake Winnipeggers have been working on the plan for years, Cram says, but it took a lot of time and money to come up with.
“It took a whole lot of work to get this plan up on the ballot,” he said.
The Chamber of Winnipeg, which has long supported gas tax hikes, is pushing to see a $1 gas tax increase, but also says the city needs to work with the other U. S. states to get the money.
“Lake Winnipeg has had gas prices this high for the last 10 years, and yet there’s no incentive for us to raise the gas taxes,” the chamber said in a statement.
The United States is the largest gas producer in the world, but is still struggling to get to a gas-pump replacement for its aging fleet.
Its gas-price increase in 2021 was about a $20 billion boost to the economy, according a recent report by analysts at the International Monetary Fund.
