Pembrough Lakes Mall is opening its first store in the Greater Brisbane area and is looking to lure back shoppers from Melbourne and other Australian cities.
Key points:Pembrockes Lakes Mall opened its doors in December, and has been a popular tourist attraction for locals and visitors alikeSince opening, the mall has had more than $500 million worth of salesThe mall is now the second busiest mall in Queensland, behind Brisbane CBDThe mall’s manager, Tim Rau, said the success of the mall would not have been possible without the support of local communities, the public and the business community.
“It’s been really hard to get the right mix of retailers,” Mr Rau said.
“The key thing is getting the right balance of retailers in the store and then the right combination of them being connected to each other.”
We’ve had great support from the community and from the business and we’ve got great partnerships in place.
“That’s been the key thing for us and that’s been key for our customers, as well.”
The mall has been running a free Christmas shopping event on the first Monday in December for about 150 stores and more than 200,000 people have bought merchandise, Mr Rar said.
The mall, which opened in December 2017, is the second-busiest mall in the state after the Brisbane CBD.
It is a five-minute walk from Brisbane CBD, with a round trip time of approximately 30 minutes.
It has an average of about 400 people per day, including children, seniors and people with disabilities.
Its opening day was held at Pemberton, a community centre, with more than 70 shops and cafes open from 9:00am to 11:00pm.
“This has been an amazing launch for Pembrook Lakes Mall, as we were very excited to welcome customers into the mall and also look forward to our new locations opening,” Mr Javid said.
